The Pikes Peak Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Inc. (EGA) is a non-profit organization devoted to educating and promoting the highest standards in the design and technique in needlework. Membership is open to all persons regardless of sex, race, color, religion, national or ethic origin or level of needlework accomplishment. The Pikes Peak Chapter received it’s own charter on January 15, 1975. See more about our 50th Anniversary below.
The monthly meeting is held on the second Saturday of every month (excluding July and August) from 9:00 am to noon at the Central United Methodist Church, 4373 Galley Rd., Colorado Springs. Sometimes, depending upon church activities, our location may change. Please contact us if you would like to join us at a meeting.
The Pikes Peak Chapter produces a monthly newsletter, Stitchin’ Around the Peak. Monthly meetings, excluding the summer months, include a general business meeting as well as a project class or demonstration. An active education chair provides the local members with additional seminars and opportunities for learning. The annual fund raising function is an auction of donated needlework.

Celebrating 50 Years of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America
This year marks a significant milestone for the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA) as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. With a strong emphasis on education and sharing the love of needlework, the chapter has created a lasting impact in the realm of embroidery, both locally and nationally.
In celebration of this significant milestone, the chapter’s stitchers have created a 50th-anniversary quilt. This quilt celebrates both past and current members.
The Pikes Peak Chapter prides itself on its inclusivity, welcoming anyone with a desire to learn needlework techniques done with a threaded needle. From novices to seasoned practitioners, the chapter offers a supportive environment for learning and growth. Many members are actively involved in the activities of the Rocky Mountain Region and the National EGA, further enriching their needlework skills and knowledge.
Education is at the heart of the Pikes Peak Chapter’s mission. The chapter provides a variety of educational opportunities, with teachers from across the United States visiting to impart various needlework techniques. The learning experience is further enriched by international needlework teachers from countries such as Australia, Canada, Great Britain, and South Africa, who have shared their expertise with the members.
The chapter has hosted seminars for the Rocky Mountain Region of EGA along with hosting the opening of the national traveling exhibit, “Through the Needle’s Eye”, featuring the work of needle artists from around the United States at the Tri-Lakes Art Center in 2014.
The chapter’s commitment extends beyond its members to the wider community through an active Outreach program. Their efforts include:
• Stitching hearts for Pikes Peak Hospice to place on the doors of their patients
• Creating samplers for new homeowners of Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity
• Crafting bookmarks for a children’s literacy program
• Designing ornaments for the White House Christmas tree
• Contributing to the Century Chest project at Colorado College
Each outreach project is a testament to the chapter’s dedication to using their needlework skills to bring comfort and joy to others.
The chapter currently boasts 50 members, including three youth members who are just beginning their needlework journey. This diverse membership reflects the chapter’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of needleworkers, ensuring that the art of embroidery continues to thrive.
The Pikes Peak Chapter meets on the second Saturday of each month at Central United Methodist Church. These gatherings provide a space for members to share their projects, learn new techniques, and foster a sense of community. The regular meetings are a cornerstone of the chapter’s activities, offering continuity and camaraderie for its members.
As the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America celebrates its 50th anniversary, it does so with a sense of pride and accomplishment. The chapter’s dedication to education, community outreach, and fostering a love of needlework has left an indelible mark on its members and the wider community. Here’s to the next 50 years of creativity, learning, and sharing the art of embroidery.
