Welcome
The Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Inc. is composed of twelve regions. The Rocky Mountain Region represents Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Texas (El Paso). Each of our 16 Chapters has a voice on the Region Board through their Region Representative position. The Region Director sits on the National Board, representing the Chapters’ issues there. A member of any chapter within the Region is also a member of the Region and eligible for all Region benefits.
The Rocky Mountain Region offers a newsletter, “Border To Border”. It is published 4 times per year and is accessible via this website. “Border To Border” includes reports from the Region Director, Committee Chairmen, chapter happenings, calendars of events, the Region teacher listing and many other things.
Opportunities for Rocky Mountain Region members to further their embroidery education begin at the chapter level. Check out a chapter near you to discover all it has to offer. RMR sponsors online and/or virtual classes and virtual lectures each year. In-person Education Events are planned on alternate years. There is sure to be something for you!
More information on all the items mentioned can be found on this website.
MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR, December 2024
Happy Holidays! May you find small moments of special joy this season, experience treasured times with family and friends, and welcome time to stitch. As my term as RD winds down there is still some information I would like to share with you. Next year RMR will be changing its email delivery from Constant Contact to MailerLite. This month Online Communications Chair, Jennifer Wollesen will be testing the system, so you may receive communications from us from this new and unexpected source. MailerLite offers the region almost the same benefits as Constant Contact, but it is free. The move will result in a significant cost savings to the region. Please do not unsubscribe to MailerLite as these emails appear in your inboxes. Congratulations to Vicky Hays, Rocky Mountain chapter member, Region Representative, and incoming Prospectors Chair who has been awarded the Jody Gergans’ Scholarship for classes in finishing at Needlework Faire, National Seminar 2025. It’s great to see this scholarship fund used. The RMR Directors’ Club would be happy to receive more applications. Apply for a scholarship and honor the talented needleworkers to whom RMR and EGA scholarships pay tribute. You can continue your embroidery education and defray some of your expenses. It’s definitely worth doing. Helena Whyte, one of EGA’s Stitch-A-Long administrators has another request. One of the SAL Administrators has experienced a change in circumstances and must step down from her position. Would you be able to take on this role? Helena would love to hear from you at mozden08@aol.com Don’t forget either, that if you like to design and stitch small, quick projects, SAL hopes you will share it. Show your creative side and submit a design to Helena! Trudy is still looking for an administrator for RMR groups on the EGA website. Trudy tells us it’s not a difficult job: “Answer questions posted by the members. Add new members as requests come in – everyone is welcome to join the public group; the membership should be vetted for the private group – primary and plural members.” Please contact Trudy this month with your interest at nominatingchair@rmrega.org. I’m still searching for two people to join the region board. We need a Membership Chair and a Fundraising Chair. The former Membership Marketing position has changed due to EGA’s Securing Our Future efforts. The Marketing part of job has moved under the Outreach umbrella. Since the move to online dues payments Membership information received from National is more accurate than ever, also reducing this chair’s responsibilities. In another cost saving move the RMR board decided to hold one virtual board meeting each year. This means fundraising will need to adapt to fewer opportunities for in-person sales, so we plan to include online fundraising projects as well. If you are interested in either of these positions, you will have the chance to help in restructure them accordingly. Contact me at regiondirector@rmrega.org for more information. I firmly believe EGA and RMR are what you make of them. I have been rewarded time and again when I have taken a class, attended an event, volunteered for a position or simply helped. I’ve made wonderful friends, met so many talented people, and learned an incredible amount. This organization has been a cherished part of my life for 28 years. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as Rocky Mountain Region Director for the past three years. It has been an amazing three years. Please join me now in extending incoming Region Director, Vicki Bridges and RMR’s new elected officers a warm welcome. The region will be in very capable hands with Vicki, Sandra Scribner, Linda Scheve, Beki Adams at the helm! Happy Holidays and Happy Stitching, Joanna |
