Welcome
The Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Inc. is composed of twelve regions. The Rocky Mountain Region represents Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Texas (El Paso). Each of our 16 Chapters has a voice on the Region Board through their Region Representative position. The Region Director sits on the National Board, representing the Chapters’ issues there. A member of any chapter within the Region is also a member of the Region and eligible for all Region benefits.
The Rocky Mountain Region offers a newsletter, “Border To Border”. It is published 4 times per year and is accessible via this website. “Border To Border” includes reports from the Region Director, Committee Chairmen, chapter happenings, calendars of events, the Region teacher listing and many other things.
Opportunities for Rocky Mountain Region members to further their embroidery education begin at the chapter level. Check out a chapter near you to discover all it has to offer. RMR sponsors online and/or virtual classes and virtual lectures each year. In-person Education Events are planned on alternate years. There is sure to be something for you!
More information on all the items mentioned can be found on this website.
MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR, November 2024
Time is flying by, and the holidays are fast approaching. As I write this letter, beautiful autumn colors are bursting out in the Denver area. I am so thankful to live in this amazing country and enjoy this glorious season. Take a moment, get outside and enjoy this gift. Happy Thanksgiving! The RMR Board held its annual meeting last month. We covered an incredible amount of business in a short time. I will try and highlight a few of the agenda items today. By now RMR members should have received the Proposed Region Budget for 2025. The region board approved this budget, and now it is your turn. Each chapter will be voting on the budget this month. The chapter vote is to be returned to Lucy Bosio, Region Treasurer at treasurer@rmrega.org by the first of December. Each year it is incumbent upon chapters to take care of this piece of business in order for the region to fully function during the following year. Thank you for participating! Former Region Director and Nominating Chair Trudy Pohawpatchoko nominatingchair@rmrega.org has this request. “We are looking for an administrator for the RMR Groups on the EGA website. There are currently 2 groups, a public group open to anyone and a private group for RMR members. I had set them up when I was RD and would post the Monthly RD Letter (private group only), news from around the region, upcoming events, etc. the groups were another communication channel to the RMR members to keep them informed of activities in the region and the public group was to reach out to other EGA members who might be interested in attending events in our region. What would you need to do? I’m so glad you asked! Post relevant information/updates in the group. Answer questions posted by the members. Add new members as requests come in – everyone is welcome to join the public group; the membership should be vetted for the private group – primary and plural members.” Region Bylaws/Documents Chair, Patty Coughlin has been getting the region’s documents in order. Documents are in the process of being retyped and where applicable, updated. As you may have noticed, Deb Ogden, Region Web Liaison has posted some of these changes to the region website already. These significant efforts should make the website more readable and user friendly by the end of the year. Future updates to the RON (aka Region Officer’s Notebook) and document edits will also be much easier to make. Education Chair, Ellie Ames has two new region sponsored education opportunities coming up for RMR members to participate in next year. Chrissie Juno Mann from the UK will be teaching a virtual class in silk shading on April 27 and May 4, 2025. It is suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced stitchers. Ellie is accepting signups from region members now educationchair@rmrega.org Zander is also scheduled to present a virtual lecture Crazy Quilting: Past, Present and Future on Thursday, January 23 at 7pm MT. It is sure to be fun as Sara shows us beautiful examples of crazy quilting from over the years. You may register for the lecture now at: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUqdOGhrTMpHdcjrLIhK5jfMj-mnQQ3_D19 Full details on this class and lecture first appeared in the October issue of Border to Border. Mary Ann Forman, Outreach Chair reported on many chapters that are making varied and generous contributions to local charitable organizations. The region Outreach Project, Paraclete Designs continues to help people through stitching. A new project is in the Phoenix area and is for persons in a 1-year recovery program to learn stitching. They could use items such as small embroidery scissors, cross stitch supplies, project bags, needles, lace, ribbon, and buttons. Be sure to contact Mary Ann at outreachchair@rmrega.org for more information. Mary Ann always wants to know if any new members have been added to your chapters due to its Outreach events. If your chapter has had a successful event that draws in new members, she wants to hear about it! Phew! And that’s just a few of the items we covered. More to come…. Happy Stitching! – Joanna |
